  • Space Reservation Requests

    The University of Miami is a private university and campus. Brands are not permitted on campus without prior approval from University staff and venue managers.

    All date and space requests can be emailed to sccreservations@miami.edu.

  • Restricted Businesses and Brands

    The University of Miami does not allow for the promotion or sale of:

    • Information which promotes unlawful or illegal goods, services or activities.
    • Attorney services.
    • Medical services
    • Political advertisements including those that espouse or oppose the election of any candidate or party or public office and/or espouse or oppose the position or policy of any political party.
    • Tobacco, CBD, marijuana, or smoking/vaping products.
    • Alcohol products.
    • Gambling establishments or services.
    • Adult entertainment establishments such as strip clubs and nightclubs.
    • Bookstores.
    • Resorts, golf clubs, or golf courses.
    • Firearms.
    • Competitors of Adidas (or the UM’s then-current official athletic apparel and equipment provider), including Nike, Hurley, Converse, Under Armour, Puma, Reebok, New Balance and any affiliates or subsidiaries of such parties, that manufacture, market, license, produce and/or distribute apparel, footwear and accessories of an athletic, athleisure and casual nature, including authentic competition apparel, performance apparel, and sports equipment, but excluding formal wear, items of high end fashion, or casual apparel such as jeans and khakis (provided that such items are not manufactured, licensed or sold by a sports company such as the entities identified above).
    • Non-alcoholic beverage competitors of the Coca-Cola Company (or UM’s then-current official beverage provider), including soda, water, energy, and fruit drinks, but excluding fresh milk, flavored milk, hot coffee and hot tea.
    • Competitors of Gatorade (or the UM’s then-current official sports beverage or energy bar provider).
    • Competitors of Canon (or the UM’s then-current official printing services provider).
    • Competitor hospitals or other healthcare organizations, in UM’s discretion.
    • Other universities, colleges, educational institutions, online educational institutions, or university or collegiate athletic programs.
    • Pharmaceutical products, medical equipment, or related services that could be construed, in UM’s discretion, as an endorsement by UM or the University of Miami Health System.

  • Certificate of Liability Insurance Requirements

    All providers of services and/or products wishing to contract with the University of Miami are required to provide and maintain appropriate insurance coverage and limits as outlined by the University of Miami Business Services.

  • Facilities Use Agreement

    This is a contract that grants another party the right to access a University facility for a specific purpose or which allows the University to access the other party’s facility for a specific purpose. Email sccreservations@miami.edu to get a copy of those terms and conditions.

  • Filming and Photography

    Professional photography or recording (filming or audio) requires prior approval from the SCC Reservations Office and the University of Miami Department of Communications.

    Identification of the University: Any representation of the University of Miami, Student Center Complex, Rathskeller, or other affiliated logos or seals is prohibited. There should be no mention or recognition given to the University of Miami unless specifically authorized.

  • Security

    University of Miami’s Police Department employs non-sworn security personnel to assist with general campus safety patrol and specific assignments, such as monitoring event equipment and crowd control. For more details, please email sccreservations@miami.edu.

  • Additional Charges

    Additional charges, outside of the venue fee, may apply to your reservation such as:

    • Operating outside of our regular business hours.
    • Parking on campus, valet service, shuttle bus service, etc.
    • Public Safety for any security coverage required, officers, special equipment, etc.
    • Custodians for cleanup services, trucking or transportation, heavy equipment use, etc.
    • IT/Telecommunications, including phone lines, data, etc.
    • Specialized AV Technical Support.

  • Space Reservation Costs

    Please email sccreservations@miami.edu for space and venue fees.

    A 50% non-refundable deposit is due within seven (7) days of the reservation being processed in order to secure the reservation. Failure to submit a deposit will result in a cancellation of the reservation. Final payment of the room balance must be received 30 days prior to the event date. All other fees associated with space usage, including parking, security, technology, and staffing charges (if applicable) will be billed to the client following the event. The client is responsible for paying their final balance within 30 days after their event.

  • Refund Policy

    The 50% deposit due within seven (7) days of the reservation confirmation is non-refundable. Reservations must be canceled 30 days before the event via email to get written confirmation of the cancellation. If a reservation is canceled within 30 days of the event, the department or organization is responsible for all costs accrued. Please note, the user may be charged for expenses incurred by the SCC Reservations Office in preparation for the meeting or event, along with the non-refundable deposit.

    The Student Center Complex reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify a reservation if the reservation becomes impractical or inadvisable due to causes beyond the control of the University of Miami. Such causes include hurricanes, lightning, fire, floods, acts of government, public health-related issues, shortage or unavailability of labor, damage to the facility, or any other causes of similar nature beyond reasonable control.
